The commonly used track shoes are divided into three types according to the grounding shape: single reinforcement, three reinforcement, and flat bottom. Some also use triangular track shoes. Single reinforced track shoes are mainly used for bulldozers and tractors, as these types of machinery require track shoes to have high traction capacity during operation. But it is rarely used on excavators, and this type of track shoe is only used when the excavator is equipped with a drilling frame or requires a large horizontal thrust. When turning from the bottom, a higher traction force is required, so the higher foot ribs (i.e. foot spikes) will squeeze away the soil (or land) between the foot ribs, thereby affecting the maneuverability of the excavator.

Steel track shoes can be divided into two types: excavator shoes and bulldozer shoes, which are the most commonly used, using section steel as the raw material. Another thing is the wet floor used by bulldozers, commonly known as "triangular plates", which are cast plates. Another type of casting plate is used on crawler cranes, with weights ranging from tens of kilograms to hundreds of kilograms.
