Gas spring is an industrial accessory that can perform functions such as support, cushioning, braking, height adjustment, and angle adjustment. It consists of the following parts: pressure cylinder, piston rod, piston, sealing guide sleeve, filling material (inert gas or oil gas mixture), in cylinder control element and out cylinder control element (referring to controllable gas spring) and joint, etc. The principle is to fill a sealed pressure cylinder with inert gas or a mixture of oil and gas, so that the pressure inside the chamber is several times or dozens of times higher than atmospheric pressure. The pressure difference generated by the cross-sectional area of the piston rod being smaller than the cross-sectional area of the piston is used to achieve the movement of the piston rod. Due to fundamental differences in principle, gas springs have significant advantages over ordinary springs: relatively slow speed, small dynamic force changes (usually within 1:1.2), and easy control.

The disadvantage is that the relative volume is not as small as the spiral spring, and the cost is high and the lifespan is relatively short. Unlike mechanical springs, gas springs have an almost linear elastic curve. The elastic coefficient X of a standard gas spring is between 1.2 and 1.4, and other parameters can be flexibly defined according to requirements and working conditions.
